HBCC Health & Safety Measures

We are so excited to be back together in our building! We love you and are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment as we worship together.

We are doing everything we can to practice safe social distancing per the regulations of the County of Alameda and CDC. Our new guidelines and safety protocols are in place so you and your family can trust that we are doing everything we can to ensure your church experience is as safe as possible. If you do plan to attend a service, we have some new guidelines to follow.

HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

Reopening Protocols

  • We understand that not everyone is ready or comfortable with in-person gatherings yet, and that’s okay. Our services will be online, so we encourage you to join us from your home until you plan to rejoin us in person. You can watch online on our website or on YouTube.
  • For your safety and the safety of others, if you are not feeling well, have an underlying medical condition, or a compromised immune system, please watch our services online from home.
  • Face coverings must be worn by everyone at all times, with the exception of the musicians on the platform and Pastors Mark and Brenda when they minister. We will have a supply of masks, but please plan to bring your own mask from home.
  • CDC does not require that any child 12 years or younger wear a face covering and requires that no child 2 years or younger wear one.
  • Preregistration is required for every in-person service. (See FAQ section below for details.)
  • When entering the parking lot, we will have parking attendants ready to assist you. We are required to have one empty parking space between cars.
  • We ask that you enter the building through the front double doors, only.
  • Temperature screening will be done at the front doors and anyone with a reading over 100.4° or higher will be asked to watch services online from home. That includes the entire household. Temperatures are the same for adults and children.
  • Social distancing will be followed throughout our building. Maintain six feet of distance between households. When in shared spaces, i.e. restrooms, aisles, and lobby, please maintain distancing protocols.
  • We will be sitting family-style together in the Sanctuary, so children and youth will be sitting with adults. Note: Preschool, CIA and Youth ministries are not resuming at this time. (See FAQ section for details.)
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available in the lobby.
  • Hugs and handshakes will have to wait as we must observe social distancing of 6’.

FAQ’s

What are our in-person service times?

  • Our Sunday morning services are the only in-person services at this time.
  • Service times are at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM.

Can I still watch online?

  • Absolutely! You can continue to watch our Sunday morning service premiering at 9:00 AM on our website or on YouTube. You can watch them online or on-demand.
  • Our Wednesday night service will continue to be premiered at 7:30 PM through our website or on YouTube. (No Wednesday night in-person services at this time.)

Do I need to preregister for a service?

  • Yes! Alameda County is requiring that church gatherings be limited to 25% capacity or 100 people maximum in attendance. As a result, seating will be limited, and those wanting to attend a service will need to preregister.
  • Due to space limitations, we ask that you attend either the 9:00 AM or 11:00 AM service, not both.
  • Registration for our Sunday morning services will begin each Sunday at 1:00 PM and will conclude the following Thursday at 12:00 noon or sooner if we reach capacity.
  • We are not able to accept registrations for future services.
  • If you are volunteering in a service, register only if you will be sitting in the Sanctuary. Do not register if you are serving in a position where you will not be seated in the Sanctuary, i.e., media, camera, parking lot security, etc., however, be sure to register your household if applicable.

Will there be assigned seating?

  • Yes. Due to the complexities of capacity limitations, seating will need to be assigned in advance to ensure that everyone who registers has a seat.
  • Seating will be every other row, with four seats between each household and individual.
  • Ushers will be standing at each Sanctuary door to provide direction. We will have Seating Hosts to escort you to your assigned seat(s). Please wait at the door for an Usher or Host to seat you before entering the Sanctuary.
  • We ask for your patience and understanding with the seating arrangements. Seating will be determined by the preregistrations submitted.
  • We will be alternating rows for each service, i.e., 9:00 AM use even rows, 11:00 AM use odd rows.
  • Registered seats not filled 15 minutes after service begins, will be released.

How early should I arrive?

  • We ask that you plan to arrive 20-30 minutes prior to each Sunday morning service.

How and when are you cleaning your facility?

  • Thorough cleaning will be done prior to our Sunday morning services. The Sanctuary will be closed between the 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM services while chairs and frequently touched surfaces are sanitized.
  • Restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized regularly during and between services.

Will masks and hand sanitizers be available?

  • Yes. We have masks on hand, but we do ask that you plan to bring your own face covering from home. Hand sanitizing stations are set up in the lobby.

What about the Sunday night and Wednesday night services?

  • No Sunday evening service at this time.
  • Our Wednesday night service will continue to be premiered at 7:30 PM through our website or on YouTube. (No Wednesday night in-person services at this time.)

Ways to Give:

  • Text and online giving will continue.
  • If you prefer to give by check or cash, new locked boxes have been installed on the wall inside each set of Sanctuary doors. Blank envelopes will be handed out by the Ushers. (Ushers will use gloves.)
  • No envelope is needed if giving by check. Simply write on the memo line what fund you are giving to. If giving to multiple funds, write the name of the fund and the amount designated.
  • You can also mail in your offering.

Can I receive a bulletin?

  • Bulletins are not being printed at this time. If you need any information, please check out our website or call the church office.

Restrooms

  • Each restroom will be monitored to make sure there is only one person at a time.
  • At least one touchless faucet, soap and paper towel dispenser are in each of the four bathrooms downstairs.

What about Children’s and Youth Ministry, and other Ministry Groups?

  • Our Preschool, CIA and Youth Ministries are temporarily suspended, as well as all prayer meetings. We plan to resume these areas as soon as we can after restrictions are lifted, and we are able to safely do so with leaders and the added cleaning regimen in place.
  • Our ministry groups such as Second Wind, Coupled 2gether and Emerge are also temporarily suspended under the same conditions.

Service Dismissal?

  • When service concludes, you will be dismissed two rows at a time starting from the back to streamline foot traffic, allowing time for cleaning the Sanctuary between services.

Other Areas

  • Water fountains will not be in use. You are welcome to bring your own spill proof water bottle.

We Care

  • Due to the current restrictions, we have suspended our We Care ministry on Sunday mornings.
  • Our Grocery Giveaway for our church family and community will continue, however, effective July 10th we will be changing from Saturdays to Friday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
  • Preregistering is required each week to ensure proper preparations. Email Cindy at cwalters@heartofthebay.org no later than Thursday at 12 noon for Friday’s giveaway to reserve your groceries.
