Dear HBCC Church Family,

Due to an increase of reported COVID-19 cases in the County of Alameda, this week a new ordnance was released by the State and Alameda County requiring all places of worship to close indoor services.

Despite this temporary set-back, it will not prevent us from worshipping the Lord together as a church family and being enriched by God's wonderful Word. Our God has been so faithful throughout last several months of uncertainty, and His faithfulness will carry us through to the other side of this pandemic!

We will continue to monitor the mandates from the State and County in the upcoming weeks. We believe that this will be a short-term situation. But until then, we are excited to announce that this Sunday, July 19th, we will have our first service in the great outdoors here on site!

To quote one of our mentors, Pastor Kenneth W. Hagin’s favorite saying, “I shall not be defeated, and I will not quit.” This is the same spirit of faith that has brought us through every time! Here's some information to help you plan for our first great outdoors service:

  • Our Sunday morning service will begin at 9:45 AM in the front parking lot (Updated 10-12)
  • Yes, there will be singing behind your properly fitted mask!
  • We are able to seat up to 200 people
  • Yes, preregistration is required
  • No, temperatures will not be taken
  • We will continue to observe social distancing keeping 6 feet apart
  • Upon arrival, plan to enter the south parking entrance next to Eon Cafe
  • Parking lot attendants will direct you where to park
  • Welcome Hosts will be located at the front of the building to the left and the right to confirm your registration and provide direction
  • We will provide metal folding chairs
  • If you like, you can bring your own standard folding chair (no lounge chairs, please)
  • You're welcome to bring your own bottled water as our water fountains are not available
  • No food please
  • Please dress comfortably/casual but appropriately
  • Comfortable shoes are suggested
  • Restrooms will be open
  • Please be careful as you walk through the parking lot

Remember Church Online premieres each and every Sunday morning at 9:00 AM and is available for those who are not quite ready to be with us in person. Whether you watch online or are with us in person, we value you greatly and are so thankful to be your pastors.

Please know that Brenda and our pastoral staff are lifting you up in prayer. If you have specific prayer request, you can call the Church Office or click on the Prayer Request link below.

We look forward to seeing many of you this Sunday!

Dear Church Family

In the last couple days, our governor and health officials have banned singing in places of worship in California. Here is the exact statement:

"Places of worship must therefore discontinue singing and chanting activities and limit indoor attendance to 25% of building capacity or a maximum of 100 attendees, whichever is lower. Updated COVID-19 guidelines issued by the state Department of Public Health require churches and other houses of worship to discontinue singing and chanting.Gavin Newsom has tightened protocols during a resurgence of the virus now says singing and chanting are banned."

Although we are disappointed in this latest directive, we recognize the challenge that is taking place with the spike of Covid-19 in California and in many parts of the country. Because we already registered about 100 people in each service before we were made aware of this ban on singing, we have decided to still have services in our building this Sunday. We will continue to assess and evaluate weekly any adjustments or tweaks that we may be making. We will communicate through email, social media and our website as to what you can expect each week.

For now, we are going to limit the singing to our worship team on the platform. Here is what we recommend: Consider other ways to worship including clapping, raising hands, humming along, or worshipping in the Spirit under your breath! Hopefully this will change soon. Because of this new development, we understand that some of you may elect not to attend the service even though you have registered. That is fine and no action is required on your part to cancel your registration. Please continue to worship with us by watching Church Online if you do not attend physically.

If you do attend, it will be a great joy to see your smiling face, but whether you are with us in person or online, please know that ministering to you is a great privilege for us. We are looking out for your best interests, and we know that as we all stay in faith and continue trusting God, great things are ahead for all of us.

Grace and peace to you,
Pastor Mark and Brenda

Greetings Church Family,

Brenda and I are so excited we couldn't wait to tell you the great news... Glory to God, we will be opening our church doors soon!

Thanks to the latest information from the County of Alameda, churches will soon be able to resume services in person! To make that possible, we are redesigning our Sunday morning services to create a sanitary environment that is in compliance with the County's physical distancing requirements. Due to these requirements, there will be limited seating. We'll inform you of the redesign and additional details next week by email.

In the meantime, please watch the video below, and let's celebrate the exciting news together!

Dear Church Family,

Greetings! We love and miss you, and we are praying for you.

As you are aware, we have been studying the essentials found in God’s Word in our Sunday morning services. As believers, we have known all along that church is essential!

Brenda and I relate to what the Apostle Paul said in Romans 1:11, “For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift...” We are so thankful we have been able to connect with our church family through Church Online services, but we are really looking forward to meeting together again in our Sanctuary.

For this to happen, there is much preparation that must take place. Brenda and I and our staff have been diligently working in compliance with the state and CDC Interim Guidelines for Communities of Faith to hold in-person services safely and efficiently. There are many procedures and policies that must be in place before we reopen. Please be assured that we are taking all the necessary measures to ensure our church building is a safe and healthy environment when we resume our on-site church services.

Some of the measures we are implementing:

  • We have contracted with a professional company to do a deep clean of the carpet and chairs in the Sanctuary, as well as the foyer, bathrooms and classrooms.
  • Installation of new touchless soap and paper towel dispensers.
  • Ongoing cleaning and sanitizing procedures and products.
  • Establishing seating arrangements in the Sanctuary that comply with social distancing requirements.
  • Provide guidelines for entering and exiting protocol.
  • Posting proper informative signage throughout the facility.

We have been meeting with our staff to discuss all the particular adjustments we need to make. There will also be training meetings with our Team Leaders and volunteers.

We are not ready to open the church doors immediately, but we are trusting for everything to be in place in order to reopen as soon as possible. We are confident the Holy Spirit will lead and guide us in all the current and upcoming decisions that need to be made. We appreciate your continued prayer support for wisdom. We will keep you informed and updated as we get closer to reopening the church.

Be sure watch the video update from Pastors Mark and Brenda below.

Thank you so much for your faithfulness during this season! Our hearts are full of thanksgiving upon every remembrance of each of you!

You are loved,

Pastor Mark

A Special Note From Pastors Mark and Brenda

Monday, March 16, 2020
Dear Church Family,

I’m sure you all have heard the news ordering 6 counties in the Bay Area to shelter in place until April 7th. These counties include Alameda, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Marin, San Francisco and Contra Costa.

This order has given us no choice but to cancel all our church services and gatherings, and close our Church Office through Tuesday, April 7th or whenever the order is lifted.

We know our government and health officials made this decision based on the information and facts they have been given. We do believe the safety and well-being of the residents of the Bay Area are their top priority and we should continue to pray that God gives them wisdom and insight in how to handle this crisis.

All of us will be affected by this disruption in our lifestyle, but as believers, there certainly are things we can implement to ensure we remain healthy and strong spiritually, mentally and physically. Here are some suggestions:

  • Take time to feed your spirit man
  • Read and meditate on the Word of God
  • Listen to uplifting messages online, CDs, etc.
  • Spend time in prayer
  • Don’t isolate yourself
  • Stay connected with family and friends through phone calls, FaceTime, texting, and emails
  • Eat as healthy as possible
  • Get plenty of sleep
  • Exercise regularly
  • Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine outdoors (there are no restrictions on taking walks)
We have not faced this situation before, but we are assured that our faith, trust, and confidence in God and His Word will see us through. This too will pass and we will come out stronger than ever.

As your Pastor, I encourage you to stay connected with your Church Family through our website and Church App. We’ll be posting updates and uplifting messages as we are able.

We also appreciate all your continued faithful giving online, by text and mailing in your tithes and offerings. Just like your personal bills, the Church's financial obligations continue during this time.

Words cannot express how much Brenda and I love and appreciate each one of you. It is difficult not to gather together with you but know that you are very much in our hearts and prayers.

Much Love,
Pastor Mark Thomas
